To invest in a Starfolio, you need a demat account. When you buy/sell a starfolio basket, the stocks/ETFs featuring in it will be credited to or debited from your account. The minimum investment amount may vary depending on the stocks and ETFs that make up the basket.
You can access the Starfolio platform by logging in through your Trendlyne account. You can then connect your broker with the Starfolio account. Currently, Starfolio is associated with brokers – Zerodha, Angel One, IIFL Securities, 5Paisa, Motilal Oswal, and Fyers. Select the basket of your choice. You can see what stocks make up the portfolio and in what proportion, and the investment rationale. Analytics comparing the returns in the basket to the index, and individual investment returns are also available.
In case you disconnect a brokerage account linked to Starfolio, your baskets associated with it will be deleted. However, your stocks and ETFs in those baskets will not be sold. Starfolio will only discontinue the tracking of the securities.
One-time or SIP investments
Once the Starfolio basket is selected to be bought, it can be done by one-time payment. The investor can also choose a monthly SIP system to invest regularly based on a predetermined period. A Starfolio basket can also be bought through a one-time purchase of the underlying securities in a Starfolio.
To place an order, the investor should select the basket that they want to invest in and confirm the order. Once the order is confirmed, the trades will be executed through your demat account linked to Starfolio.
Another way is to invest systematically (SIP) within a defined period of time like a month, or a quarter. The transactions are executed through your demat account.
